Sharing & Ownership
In a professional environment, a schedule is a shared asset. MSP Planner provides a robust governance model to ensure that the right people have the right level of access to the right plans.
The Ownership Model
Every persisted schedule in MSP Planner has a clear ownership structure:
1. The Owner
The user who creates or copies a schedule is the Owner.
- Full Control: Only the owner can delete a schedule or change its sharing settings.
- Quota: Schedules owned by a user count toward their global ownership quota (e.g., 20 schedules for Jira users).
2. Shared Access
The owner can grant access to other users or teams:
- Read Access: Users can view the schedule and use the comparative overlays, but cannot modify the data or push changes to Jira.
- Write Access: Users can edit the schedule, manage resources, and synchronize data with Jira.
Portfolio-Scale Management
For organizations managing multiple projects, MSP Planner provides a centralized way to handle schedules.
Cross-Project Visibility
Through the Manage Schedules dialog, you can opt to see every schedule you own across all your Jira projects in a single view. This allows you to:
- Quickly Switch: Load a schedule from Project A while you are currently working in Project B.
- Clean Up: Delete old or redundant schedules from multiple projects in one place.
